High pressure to our north has given us clear skies, cool
temperatures, and low relative humidities. Besides some
prescribed burns, there have been several reports of small fires
thanks to the low humidity today.

Many places will see a light freeze tonight, mainly along or
north of the I-10 corridor.

Tomorrow, the high pressure to our north will shift to the east,
and our winds will turn to come out of the east. By Sunday
evening, winds will shift to the southeast for southeast Texas and
stay predominantly east for southern Louisiana. That will bring a
gradient of low temperatures - mid to upper 40s in southeast Texas
compared to upper 30s to lower 40s in southern Louisiana.

By Monday, onshore flow from the Gulf will warm our entire region; highs
will be in the mid 60s to lower 70s for highs, and mainly 50s for
lows.

Warmer weather continues into the long term forecast time range.
In addition, a more progressive pattern is shown with rain chances
showing up late Christmas Eve into early Christmas Day(Tuesday and
Wednesday). WPC has outlined southeast Texas and parts of
southwest and central Louisiana in a marginal risk for heavy rain
and flooding during this time. SPC does not have any area
outlined for severe thunderstorms so far.

The next system shows up late Thursday into Friday, and perhaps
Saturday. So far, no designation from WPC or SPC on heavy rain or
severe storm risks, but it will be monitored this week as we get
closer to the time.

prevail through the period. Light NE winds tonight will veer more
